+*Arabidopsis thaliana* Col-0 seeds were sterilized in a 1.5-mL microcentrifuge tube with 1 mL of 30% chlorine + 0.1% Triton X-100 for 15-20 min at room temperature with agitation. The seeds were rinsed once with 1 mL of 80% ethanol, followed by five rinses with autoclaved ddH2O. The microcentrifuge tube was wrapped in aluminum foil and cold-treated at 4 °C for 2-5 days before sowing. *A. thaliana* Col-0 seeds were incubated under standard growth conditions, i.e., 22 °C, 10 h light/ 14 h dark, 60% humidity, 180-230 μmol/s/m2 light intensity.
